Charitable teams are a group of natural persons who practice voluntary charitable work without obtaining material profit or achieving personal interest, and they seek through the programs and assistance they provide to achieve social, developmental, relief, care or solidarity purposes by collecting donations and contributions in cash and in kind and others and redistributing them to the needy in the same state or as required by the circumstances and conditions.

There are (64) charitable teams in the Sultanate of Oman, with one charitable team in each state, operating under the supervision of the Social Development Committees headed by Their Excellencies the Walis and including representatives of government institutions and the people of the state in their membership, and the number of volunteers in them exceeds (6000) volunteers.

The organizational regulations for the work of social development committees and volunteer teams issued by Ministerial Resolution No. (217/2024) contribute to organizing the work of these teams, and the Ministry of Social Development seeks, in coordination with government institutions and the private sector, to enhance the role of these teams and qualify them in a manner consistent with the aspirations and ambitions of these teams.
